Hoosier Youth ChalleNGe Academy

The National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program is a voluntary, preventive program designed to give at-risk youth a second chance by helping them improve their life skills, education levels and employment potential.  Sixteen to 18 year-old female and male high school dropouts are eligible for the 17 month program, which includes a five month residential phase followed by a twelve month mentoring phase.  Started by the National Guard in 1993, the NGYCP has been independently rated the most cost-effective, efficient and successful program for at-risk youth in the United States. Groups from the Hoosier Youth ChalleNGe academy arrived at Columbus Youth Camp and completed group challenges such as High Ropes, Low Ropes, and the Pamper Pole.

December 4th: Columbus Regional Hospital held their Christmas Tea in the Reeves Center. Next to a cozy fire more than 50 employees enjoyed the tastes and smells of the season.

They offer medical specialties and services that allow individuals to stay closer to home, without having to drive miles away to a metropolitan area.

FRIENDS OF CAMP 2008

The Friends of Camp Day, April 26th, 2008, was a huge success.  Over 75 visitors came to enjoy the celebration and camaraderie. In addition to the fellowship and story-telling, we collected pictures and artifacts from our more than 70 years of Summer Camp.

The Friends of Camp are made up of past Campers, Counselors, and Camp Directors from Columbus Youth Camp’s rich history.  They have helped shape the more than 70 years that CYC has been a place of Laughter and Learning.  Columbus Youth Camp, and the Friends of Camp continue to capture the stories, traditions, and artifacts of days gone by. We want to hear from the people who have shaped, and been shaped by one of our richest community assets. Columbus Youth Camp.

The Columbus Youth Camp would like to thank all of the people who have built our rich heritage over the years.
